Strengthening Multi-Ethnic Families and Communities through Violence Prevention PDF Print E-mail

Taught by a parent who is a certified trainer, this court-approved parenting class is offered over a 13-week session for three hours each session.  This is a strength-based, prevention/intervention program that utilizes a cultural framework to assist parents in raising children to lead violence-free, healthy lifestyles as well as to promote and improve parent-child relations.  For parents who are court-ordered to parenting classes, this offers families voice and choice in the type of parenting classes they attend.

The five main components of the program are:

  • Cultural/Spiritual
  • Enhancing Relationships-Violence Prevention
  • Positive Discipline
  • Rites of Passage
  • Community Involvement
Light lunch and child-watch is provided with registration.
