Raising Awareness/Reducing Stigma

greenribbonFamily Involvement Center strives to educate the community about why children's mental health matters. The more we learn about children's mental health, the better we can understand the needs of children with emotional and behavioral health needs and the contributions they make to our community. Our understanding also helps parents raising children with these needs feel safe when asking for help and support from their families and communities. Early intervention and treatment for children and support for parents and caregivers have been proven to improve outcomes for children with mental health needs.

Each year, Family Involvement Center takes a lead role in Arizona's celebration of Children's Mental Health Awareness. This nation-wide effort seeks to raise awareness about the importance of children's mental health and why it is essential to a child's healthy development. Communities around the country participate by holding their own Awareness Day events, focusing either on the national theme, or adapting the theme to the populations they serve. Family Involvement Center hosts a series of events during Children's Mental Health Awareness Week in support of this effort in Arizona.
